Our Spring meeting for Chairs, Vice-Chairs and Clerks will be held on Wednesday, 29th January at The Wren School, starting at 7pm and finishing by 8:30pm. Led by members of your RGA executive committee, topics to be covered are listed below, but time will also be reserved for attendees to raise their own issues for discussion and advice.

OFSTED: QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF

What common themes are emerging from the Ofsted reports under the new inspection framework?  How would you answer these challenges if they were put to you by an inspector?  RGA officers bring you an analysis of national and local reports, in particular, identifying issues arising from judgements on governance.  We hope to be joined by the Chair of Thameside Primary, the first school in Reading to be inspected under the new framework.

GOVERNOR AND STAFF WELLBEING

The therapeutic behaviour approach is not just about the children, it’s about everyone in the classroom.  What measures have schools taken to monitor and support staff wellbeing?  Are we seeing any impact in retention?  What about us governors, and our wellbeing?

THE POLITICAL LANDSCAPE

How do GBs provide strategic leadership in light of whatever political and financial situation the country and the LA has found itself in on the 13th December?
