Bringing Reading Schools Closer Together

New ‘River Academy’ Secondary set to open September 2021

As secondary pupil numbers continue to rise in Reading, there is a clear need for more capacity from 2021 onwards. Most existing secondaries have already taken bulge classes but that is not a long term solution.  The Maiden Erlegh Trust has been selected to open a new secondary school on the Rivermead site (off Richfield Avenue) which is set to open with temporary classrooms in September 2021, with the fully developed site planned for 2022.  The Brighter Futures school finance team have the funding for this, but time is tight.  Should it be delayed for any reason there will have to be 2 more bulge classes.
