This is an informal group where governors and clerks from all school governance settings can meet to share issues and ask questions in a confidential space, supported by the RGA board.  There is no agenda and no pre-reading for this event.  Light refreshments are provided.

Details: Meet with colleagues across wider Reading to discuss the latest challenges we are facing, whether common to us all, or specific to your setting.

Outcomes: Governance knowledge and practice is strengthened across local governing boards.  Opportunities for cross-collaboration and mentoring are created.

Audience: All governors and clerks, especially those with specialist roles such as Chair, Safeguarding, SEND etc.

 

Autumn Focus

Hear and discuss the latest updates in education and how they affect governance.

Discuss and question the issues covered in the BFfC’s Director’s Briefing from 20th September.

Group work will focus on priority topics raised by members, facilitated by local leaders of governance, in order to share and evolve best practice together.

 

Suggested topics we might discuss in this session include:

  • fundamental organisational change
  • Governing Board Improvement Plan
  • the 3 ‘i’s of the curriculum
  • Governor/Clerk recruitment and induction
  • succession planning
  • school place planning (demographic trends)
  • Risk Registers
  • safeguarding
  • H&S
  • mental health and wellbeing
  • EDI (equality, diversity and inclusion)
  • SEND
  • new to school governance

 

Places can be booked below. Upon booking, you will be prompted to nominate your priority issue(s) for discussion.  Any presentations/resources accompanying this session will be circulated in advance for you to bring along.  WiFi is provided.

Attendance is free for member schools,  Please see here for our fee to join: this becomes your annual membership fee, and all subsequent attendance will then be free.  This event contributes towards your CPD, and a training certificate can be issued after the session.
