Bringing Reading Schools Closer Together

Achieving a seamless transfer into a Multi Academy Trust

Battle Primary Academy has had notable success recently, with its Ofsted judgement rising to ‘Good’ for the first time since joining NET Academies Trust in 2013. However, despite the senior leadership team and governors managing to significantly improve outcomes for Reading children over the last couple of years, the systems underpinning the academy schools structure are being tested by a dispute with unions over the support staff TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment)) process, regarding Battle’s transfer from NET to Baylis Court Trust. Despite the Headteacher Board of the RSC’s office giving approval for the move in November 2018, the handover of the school is still incomplete.

Many governors will be concerned that changes to their school organisation could negatively impact on the progress in learning and teaching, and may see this as a major barrier to any change. RGA officers have experience in successful due diligence processes and transfers into Multi Academy Trusts, and can offer advice on how to identify and join a future partner, in a manner which is supportive of the school’s operations.
